Fire ravages multiple homes in city’s southwest

Three homes are destroyed after a massive blaze in Woodbine Tuesday night.

The fire broke out on Woodbrook Way and quickly spread.

Neighbours believe the flames started somewhere near the back of one of the houses.

Brian Schiber lives three houses down from where the fire started.

“I heard a lot of banging. I thought somebody was out in the alley banging around with cans and (I) went outside — the second house in, his backyard was a torch. It was an inferno,” he said.

He was worried about his own home, but got everyone out.

660 NEWS staffer Tamara Graham lives nearby in the Cedarbrae neighbourhood and had a clear view across Anderson Road.

“It was just unreal, just the amount of flames that were coming up, it was quite large,” she said.

There were no major injuries, but one person was treated on scene by paramedics.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
