Calgarians gathered at City Hall to bring attention to the plight of the people of Venezuela on Sunday.
Justice for Venezuela spokesperson Josue Ramirez said President Nicolas Maduro is holding an election Sunday which has been rejected by many countries as illegitimate.
Ramirez said Maduro’s government is full of corruption with drug lords behind him and the people are suffering.
“In five months more than ten kids have died in hospital mainly because of malnutrition and there were no medicine to support their life and there were no basic services like electricity, power or water at the hospital.”
Ramirez said they are asking world leaders to accuse President Maduro in The Hague.
The Calgary demonstration is one of hundreds being held around the world in an effort to bring Maduro to justice.
