Two homes destroyed after N.E. blaze

Fire crews were busy Saturday evening with a second fire in the northeast.

It happened just before 5:30 p.m., in the 200 block of Coral Springs Circle. Upon arrival, crews found heavy smoke and flames coming from a single family home and the fire was starting to extend onto a neighboring home.

Firefighters started spraying water quickly to prevent the flames from spreading further.

Officials say three people were home at the time when the fire started. All were able to escape, but one person was assessed on scene by paramedics.

Crews say two homes have enough damage that people cannot return, while a third has some exterior damage and residents are allowed back.

Firefighters will remain on both scenes in Coral Springs and Country Hills to monitor for any hotspots.

Working smoke alarms at the Coral Springs residence helped everyone escape quickly.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
