Local superheroes at Calgary Expo: Alberta Ghostbusters raise funds for kids

They’re Ghostbusters for a good cause.

A local group of super fans is raising funds for the Alberta Children’s Hospital at the Calgary Comic Expo.

Alberta Ghostbuster Dustin Milne says they’re just a bunch of fans of the movies that formed a non-profit to engage their passion and help the community at the same time.

“We dress up as Ghostbusters, from both the old movies as well as the new reboot, we’ve got male and female members and we go out to events and raise money for charity,’ says Milne.

And they pay for all of their gear themselves.

“It’s an expensive addiction I’ll tell you that. Between building the flight suit with all the gear on the belt and then the proton pack or some of us have slime blowers now from the second movie, it does get rather expensive,” says Milne.

They’re also in the midst of building their very own Ecto-1 out of a 1964 Cadillac Miller Meteor hearse that they’re hoping will be done sometime next year.

If you’d like more information on the group, they have just launched their new website.
