Calgary Flames naming new coach soon

Less than a week after firing Glen Gulutzen as head coach, the Calgary Flames could be ready to introduce whose taking his job.

There’s a likely pick who just stepped off Carolina’s bench who could be leading the Flames after a disappointing season.

Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan said Bill Peters has been linked to the team for more than a month, and he has a close connection with GM Brad Treliving going back to the world championships two years ago.

“At the end of the week on Friday, Bill Peters opted out and resigned as head coach of the Carolina Hurricanes so everything seems to be lining up. By all intel I have, the news conference will be Monday morning”

He adds, coaching isn’t going to make the difference and the team’s struggles won’t be fixed just by this change.

Steinberg expects more moves in the off season to address issues with its special teams and goaltending.
