Flooding forces state of emergency in Vulcan County

Vulcan County is the latest area of southern Alberta to declare a local state of emergency due to flooding.

The County believes there is an imminent threat to property and infrastructure, and more than 40 roads are flooded.

It says it will put the greatest emphasis on protecting people’s homes.

Residents are being warned not to drive through flooded roads, because there could be hidden hazards.

Lethbridge County, Taber, and the Siksika First Nation have also declared states of emergency over the past week, as snow accumulations begin to melt rapidly.
