Canada notified in advance but not asked to help with Syria airstrikes: Trudeau

LIMA, Peru – Canada was told in advance that the U.S., Britain and France were planning to launch airstrikes against Syria, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Saturday — but was not asked to participate.

“We were apprised in advance of the operation,” Trudeau told reporters at the end of a three-day visit to Peru. “We were very supportive. And there was no request for Canada to join as part of that operation.”

The comments came as the international community was still grappling with the aftermath of the Friday’s airstrikes against the Syrian government in retaliation for a suspected chemical-weapons attack that killed dozens of people.

U.S. officials have said the strikes hit three chemical-weapons facilities, including one in Damascus and two in Homs. U.S. President Donald Trump hailed the attacks on Twitter as “perfectly executed,” adding: “Mission Accomplished!”

Syria has denied launching any chemical-weapons attacks, including one on April 7 in the rebel-held enclave of Douma that killed at least 43 people and injured hundreds more and was the catalyst for Friday’s airstrikes.

Russia, which has emerged as Syrian President Bashar Assad’s strongest supporter, previously suggested Israel and Britain were behind the Douma attack and expressed outrage Saturday over the airstrikes.

The U.S., Canada and their allies have largely dismissed Damascus’s denials and said the strikes were necessary, but have not said how they know that the Syrian government was responsible for the chemical-weapon attacks.

The joint airstrikes occurred as Trudeau was attending the Summit of the Americas, which brings together leaders from across the Western Hemisphere every four years, and which was largely overshadowed by the Syria crisis.

Earlier in the day, U.S. Vice-President Mike Pence thanked Canada for backing the strikes and explicitly singled Trudeau out for praise during his address to summit participants.

For his part, Trudeau described the airstrikes as “unfortunate, but necessary” to stop the Syrian government from launching further chemical-weapons attacks against civilians.

“This is something we cannot accept, the use of chemical weapons on civilians,” he said, “and the international community needs to continue to stand extremely strongly as we continue to hold Syria accountable.”

The prime minister also had some tough words for Russia, not only for its support to the Syrian government, but also its actions in Ukraine and the poisoning of a former Russian spy. Moscow has denied responsibility for the poisoning.

“These are things that have demonstrated that Russia is not interested in being a positive actor in the global rules-based order and the rest of the international community needs to stand firmly united,” Trudeau said.

So Trudeau would have no objection if Russia started bombing Ottawa because we let First Nations’ women get murdered with nary a murmur? Or we committed “genocide” as per our own Truth and Reconciliation Commission?

US and its allies demonstrated its ignorance when it comes to international law.
Too bad we follow the terrorist state.
It is obvious that Syria was not responsible for chemical attack.
Right after the alleged chemical strike Arabic Red Cross visited the hospital where allegedly poisoned people were treated. As Arabic Red Cross stated they do not found any patients that were treated for chemical poisoning. A few days later Syrian forces freed Douma. Russian military police found doctors from the ambulance who was bringing people to the hospital. The identity of those doctors was verified. They stated that when they were in emergency room treating patients for different illnesses the group of people rushed into the emergency room with a hose screaming about chemical poisoning. They were pouring water on the patients who already was in the emergency room and taking a video. After 10 minutes those people are disappeared. Obviously they filmed the fake video. As local hospital doctors say that there are was no patients with any chemical poisoning. They also could not find any of claimed 40 dead people.
US, UK and France violated UN provision. They did not get any approval from UN for the strike. They also did not get any approval from their own official bodies who they had to get permission from. They attacked Syria without any evidence that chemical attack happened the same day when OPCW had to arrived to investigate the alleged accident.
Only crazy people like Bolton, May etc could actually think that Syria would use chemical weapons in the place where they reached the agreement with ISIS to leave the city buy bases provided by Syrian government. As Syrian and Russian military people said two weeks before the staged video the provocation had happened.
After math.
110 rockets were fired.
7 of them were lost even before they got into Syrian air space.
103 rockets interred into Syrian air space.
French jets flew to the region but did not fire any.
UK fired 8 rockets.
US fired the rest.
71 of 103 rockets were intercepted by Syrian anti air craft forces (I personally think that those were Russian crews) using 30 years old anti air craft systems.
All the rockets that targeted Syrian air bases were intercepted and destroyed. Basically US Tomahawks reached only 3 sites. 2 of those sites were bombed by Israel at least twice and since then no one was there. All the people and equipment was moved out from those sites 2 years ago. US just demolished some buildings. The other one was Syrian University lab buildings.
US and UK lead us to the WW3
