Trending: #ThankYouSedins, Jonathan Pitre

#ThankYouSedins. The sentiment is as simple as it sounds.

After more then 2,600 games, and 2,100 points between Daniel and Henrik Sedin, all for the Vancouver Canucks, the Swedish twins will retire Saturday. They hang up their skates after 17 years on the west coast.

The duo played their final NHL home game, Thursday, and the hockey world has apparently just begun celebrating the ginger forwards.

Meanwhile, on a much more sombre, but inspiring note, President of Sportsnet, Scott Moore was among those sharing his thoughts on the death of Jonathan Pitre.

The 17-year-old, known as the #ButterflyBoy, died Wednesday night at a Minnesota hospital of complications for epidermolysis bullosa (EB), a disease for which Pitre became a spokesperson.

The social media world was abuzz with memories, condolences and prayers for his Ottawa family.
