Horgan under fire for gasoline price comments

An expert on Canada’s oil and gas market is flabbergasted at the attitude of B.C. Premier John Horgan in the face of a gasoline shortage pushing prices way up in the Vancouver area.

Dan McTeague of gasbuddy.com says the NDP appears to be peddling false information on the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion, yet Horgan wants Ottawa to step in to control prices at the pumps.

He says twinning the existing line will allow more gasoline to flow to the west coast, not just bitumen.

McTeague says right now there is a serious squeeze.

“Even the Vancouver Airport has had to make a number of allowances in order to ensure it has adequate supply, because it’s not getting it from Canada, it’s having to rely now, believe it or not, on Washington State’s BP refinery to get the bulk of its jet fuel. That, to me, is disgraceful.”

Alberta Premier Rachel Notley accuses Horgan of being hypocritical when he talked about expanding B.C.’s LNG industry, but then applies different environment standards for energy products coming from Alberta.
