Disturbing exchange on Calgary bus captured on video: “Taliban might be looking for you”

WARNING: Disturbing language.

Calgary Transit says it is looking into a disturbing exchange posted on Twitter between a man and a woman wearing a veil.

Antonio Santos posted the video to Twitter after the incident around 11 a.m. Friday on the 73 bus.

“It eventually escalated until he started saying very racial slurs to her, calling her a terrorist and saying that ‘people like her are the reason wars start’ and that ‘she should go back to her country because she’s not welcome here.'”

The man tells the woman that she started the argument and that she was playing the race card.

“You don’t shut up do you?” he said, after which she told him to stop talking to her.

“You should wear a veil on your tongue, you know the Taliban might be looking for you,” he said. “You want to f*** with me?”

The woman asks if the camera in the bus is recording.

“The Taliban is going to be here, and God will be your husband,” he then tells her.

That’s followed by another man saying “Oh my goodness gracious.”

Calgary Transit said the bus driver did notify bus control and that officers spoke to all parties involved.

Transit added it’s possible the man could be banned.

In a second video posted by Santos, another man appears to interject, saying he represents the City of Calgary.

“Oh really? Your mother’s gay. What good are you?” the man said in response.
