18-year-old man charged with voyeurism after an incident at Lethbridge pool

An 18-year-old man is facing voyeurism and multiple child pornography charges after he was allegedly filming adults and kids using a swimming pool change room in Lethbridge.

On Thursday, the Lethbridge Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit was informed by pool staff and University of Lethbridge Security Services about a man who was acting suspiciously inside one of the change rooms while a local youth swim club was using it. Participants of the swim club ranged in age from 5 years old to 18 years old.

ALERT spokesperson Mike Tucker says an ICE investigator was sent in to look into what was happening after they were notified.

“He made some observations, he was able to confront the suspect and make an arrest,” said Tucker adding, “the investigator believes that he was, in fact, filming change room users.”

Tucker said that the investigation into this incident is still ongoing.

On Friday morning, police executed a search warrant for the man’s home where police seized a number of computers and other electronics.

“From here those will be sent back to our lab to be examined.”

Anyone with information about this investigation or any child exploitation offense is encouraged to contact local police or www.cybertip.ca.
