Hitmen beat the Tigers 5-4 in a Sunday matinee

Conner Chaulk’s second goal of the game, with 1:48 remaining, snapped a 4-4 tie to lift the Calgary Hitmen past the Medicine Hat Tigers 5-4.

The Sunday matinee at the Scotiabank Saddledome saw a combined 95 shots on goal, 48 by the Tigers and 47 for the Hitmen. Calgary Flames prospect Nick Schneider made a season-high 44 saves to record the win.

Carson Focht also scored twice for the home side with Dakota Krebs adding a single to help Calgary erase period deficits of 1-0 and 3-2. Luke Coleman picked up a pair of assists in the comeback as the Hitmen opened a season-high seven-game home stand.

David Quenneville, Ryan Jevne, Bryan Lockner and Mark Rassell replied for the visitors who earned a split in their weekend home-and-home set with Calgary.

The Hitmen will welcome former teammate Jake Bean back to the Scotiabank Saddledome on Wednesday, Feb. 14 when the Tri-City Americans make their first and only visit of 2017-18. Game time is 7:00 p.m. in a contest that will feature a special pre-game ceremony to honour Bean and all Hitmen who competed internationally this season.
