CTF wants Calgarians to ask if we can afford winter games

The Canadian Taxpayer’s Federation says Calgarians should be asking themselves whether or not this city can afford to host another Olympics.

Alberta Director Colin Craig was asked to comment on the Alberta delegation en route to South Korea, coming at a cost of $45,000.

Craig says the delegation already knows a 2026 games would cost a lot and neither the city nor province has the money.

“The provincial government is running a massive massive deficit right now, they’re in no place to be able to throw some kind of big sporting party. You look at the federal government they’re in the same position, the City of Calgary, a lot of people are struggling we just can’t afford the Olympics”

Calgary is hoping it will have answers on whether Ottawa and Alberta would support a bid by the end of the month.
