Smith joining Gaudreau at NHL All-Star Game

Calgary Flames goaltender Mike Smith has been added to the roster for the 2018 NHL All-Star Game.

Smith replaces Los Angeles Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick on the Pacific Division roster. It will be Smith’s second appearance at an all-star game.

“This point in my career, I think I cherish it more because of my family,” he said. “My kids are able to understand what’s going on a little bit. They had so much fun last year.”

The 35-year-old is having an excellent season between the pipes for the Flames, with a 20-13-6 record, a 2.39 GAA and a .926 save percentage.

Smith will join sniper Johnny Gaudreau, who was named to the team earlier this month.
