Gaudreau, Smith named NHL Stars of the Week

The Calgary Flames have won seven straight games and the NHL is taking notice.

Johnny Gaudreau has been named First Star of the Week after he led the league with six assists and eight points in four games. The sniper ranks second in the NHL with 54 points in 45 games this season.

Between the pipes, Mike Smith stopped 104 of 108 shots, going 3-0-0 with a 1.32 goals-against average and .963 save percentage to help Calgary sweep a road trip of at least four games for the first time since 2007. He earned Second Star of the Week honours.

The Flames are currently on a CBA-mandated bye week. Next action is Saturday when they welcome the Winnipeg Jets to the Scotiabank Saddledome at 1 p.m.

The Flames are undefeated in 2018 and sit second in the Pacific Division.
