Teen killed in head-on collision

A 16-year-old girl has been killed and a 50-year-old woman is in critical condition, following a crash about three kilometres west of Hussar, Alberta.

RCMP responded to the scene just before 6:30 Monday night, on Highway 561. As the teen was driving west, she collided head-on with an SUV traveling east. The 50-year-old woman was the driver and lone occupant of the SUV.

The 16-year-old was pronounced dead on scene and the 50-year-old woman was flown to hospital by STARS Air Ambulance.

No other injuries have been reported, and there’s no word yet on the cause of the crash.

RCMP continue to investigate.
