Charges are expected to be laid Tuesday following a carjacking that sent a man to hospital in life-threatening condition.

It happened New Year’s Day around 12:15 p.m. near the Subway at Northland Village.

Detective Travis Ibach said the victim was run over.

“During the taking of this vehicle, the registered owner, a male in his 40s, was struck as the vehicle fled the area,” he said.

The stolen vehicle was later found, and a man in his 40s arrested. Daniel Everett Burt, 49, of Calgary is charged with theft of a motor vehicle and hit and run causing bodily harm.

The victim was later upgraded to stable condition.
