Preparations are ramping up for the New Year’s Eve party in downtown Calgary on Dec. 31.
Celebrations will centre around the Municipal Building, but the Calgary Tower will also have a starring role, to launch its 50th anniversary.
The fireworks will begin at the tower before the rest are launched from the top of City Hall.
Earlier in the evening there will be festivities at Olympic Plaza and ice carvings on display along Stephen Avenue.
Be prepared for road closures in the core, some lanes are already blocked while crews set up for Sunday night.
