Flames comeback falls short against the Canadiens

The Flames were hoping for an early Christmas present as they were playing one last time before the break.

Even though Calgary preached hard work before the game, it didn’t translate on the ice and it showed early.

Max Pacioretty scored early in the first, but after Flames coach Glen Gulutzan challenged it for offside, the goal was overturned.

But after that, Montreal continued to roll scoring three straight, getting goals from Byron Froese, Nicolas Deslauriers and Brendan Gallagher.

The Flames would make things interesting in the third period, scoring a pair of their own, from Michael Ferland and Matthew Tkachuk on the powerplay.

In the end it wasn’t enough and Calgary would lose 3-2, heading into the break on a losing note. When the Flames come back from Christmas, they will be on the road, looking to get some revenge against the San Jose Sharks, on Dec. 28th.
