YYC expects 51,000 passengers for busiest day of the holiday season

YYC Calgary International Airport recommends making a list and checking it twice if travel plans include a departure on the busiest day of the holiday season.

The airport authority is expecting to welcome about 51,000 passengers on Friday and with some naughty road conditions in store for the city, the airport suggests getting errands done at YYC.

“Take some time, do a little shopping and get all of your gifts wrapped when you’re through security,” said spokesperson Sarah Urbanowski.

She also said jetsetters should check with airlines and the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority so they’re familiar with travel restrictions.

“There can be some restrictions over the holidays and baggage allowances can change based on the airline or based on the destination that they’re heading to,” said Urbanowski.

To help take a bit of the weight off luggage, passengers on the way to a sunny destination can store their heavy winter parkas and boots with the Information Booth in the domestic terminal for two dollars a day per item.

If travellers don’t want a bug to spoil their winter getaway, they can roll up their sleeves for a flu shot at the airport pharmacy.
