City of Calgary roads department prepared for snow

A snowfall warning remains in effect for Calgary and surrounding areas.

The city could see anywhere from 10 to 20 centimetres by Wednesday afternoon, which means it’s going to be a hectic number of hours for City of Calgary roads crews.

“We have been out there, applying some liquids to some of our major roadways and infrastructure,” explained roads department spokesperson Bill Biensch. “As the initial snow comes down, it’s not going to stay with us.”

Their priority is busy commuter roads and as a result, expect the snow to pile up on side streets.

The province is responsible for clearing Deerfoot Trail and Stoney Trail.

For the latest on the roads in and around Calgary, keep it locked to 660 NEWS for traffic on the ones.
