Campaign raises awareness about heart attack risk

The Heart and Stroke Foundation is launching a campaign Monday, to raise awareness of the increased risk of heart attacks at this time of year.

Hockey legend Wayne Gretzky is lending his voice to the campaign, as it was a year ago that he lost his friend, Actor Alan Thicke.

Thicke died from a ruptured aorta while playing hockey with his son.

The campaign launch is being held at noon Monday at the WinSport Markin MacPhail Centre.

Gretzky is not available to attend, but Cardiologist Dr. Ed O’Brien will be there along with the CEO of Heart and Stroke Foundation for Alberta, Donna Hastings.
