STARS airlifts patient in life-threatening condition from crash south of Calgary

STARS air ambulance picked up a patient with serious, potentially life-threatening injuries following a crash south of Calgary Saturday afternoon. Two other people were in stable condition and transferred to hospital in an ambulance.

Emergency Medical Services was called at about 4:45 p.m. to the northbound lanes of Highway 2 near the exit from Okotoks, after a car lost control and rolled into the ditch. It happened after another vehicle swerved in front of the car.

The driver, a 51-year-old man, was airlifted to hospital, the two others injured were a 62-year-old woman and a 70-year-old man. All three are from High River.

Alcohol and road conditions don’t appear to be factors in the crash. RCMP say the vehicle that swerved in front of the car did not stop and because of the speed it was moving at, there is no description of the vehicle.
