Snowfall warning issued for Calgary

A snowfall warning is out for the City of Calgary.

The warnings were initially issued for the Foothills, Kananaskis and Canmore areas Wednesday morning, but have now been expanded to the city including the Okotoks and Airdrie areas.

660 NEWS Meteorologist Andrew Schultz says the snow will start Wednesday night, and we could get 20 centimetres or a bit more.

“We’re not going to see it through one evening, we’re not going to see it in one day. That total of approximately 20 centimetres being the top edge, and a potential for 20 centimetres, maybe even a few more centimetres, is literally stretched out between the very late evening on Wednesday right on through to Saturday morning.”

Further south of Calgary, the Crowsnest Pass and Cardston areas are under winter storm warnings, which are just one level below a blizzard warning.

Those parts of the province might get 40 centimetres of snow by Saturday.
