Woman pronounced dead on scene after crash east of Calgary

A woman has died following a rollover Saturday on the Trans-Canada Highway east of the city.

At about 2:00 p.m., Emergency Medical Services were called to the scene between Chestermere and Strathmore, near the turnoff to Cheadle. They found a heavily damaged vehicle.

“The lone occupant, that being an adult female, based on the injuries sustained that person was determined deceased on scene,” said EMS spokesperson Adam Loria. “There were no reports of any other injured individuals, thus no transports to hospital and EMS cleared shortly thereafter.”

Strathmore RCMP say the vehicle lost control and went into the ditch before rolling into a field.

The 29-year-old woman is from Calgary. Investigators don’t believe drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.

The woman’s name will not be released and her next of kin have been contacted.
