Calgary group wants fluoride debate back on the table

Grassroots group Calgarians for Kids Health want candidates to reconsider the city’s decision to remove the amount of fluoride in our drinking water.

Calgary City Council voted to reduce the levels back in 2011.

Spokesperson for C.K.H. Juliet Guichon says the decision didn’t take all scientific facts into consideration.

“Somewhat like people who oppose vacinations. They cherry pick studies that have flaws in them or are not relavent to the North American situation and then decide, based on those studies, that the measures are not safe and effective,” said Guichon.

She adds it has led to a lot of tooth decay in children and seniors.

Out of the candidates that have voiced their opinion on fluoride, C.K.H. found 64 per cent are in favour of revisiting the issue.
