Weekend incident a reminder of river safety

Calgary Police are now reviewing what happened after an incident involving the Marine Unit on the water Sunday.

The Zodiac boat was in the middle of a service call when it somehow flipped over.

Constable Alasdair Robertson-More is with the unit. He tells 660 NEWS no one was injured.

“The geography of the river, the bottom, where there’s rapids, where there’s rocks, where there’s hazards — it changes daily, the height of the river changes. You throw in factors like debris, winds — we had the wind event earlier on in the year during the high flow advisory, and all that kind of stuff. You can get into trouble really quickly,” Robertson-More said.

He adds it’s an important reminder on why everyone, including the police, must wear their life jackets.
