Calgary Legal Guidance provides free advice to low income Calgarians

The Calgary Legal Society hosted its Advice-a-Thon Saturday for people needing free legal advice.

Jaime had been looking for legal advice on her family law case for the last six months.

She said she can’t afford to consult with a lawyer to find out if she even needs one.

“I just need to know where to go to get the information. I need know how to get the ball rolling on if I need to go to court, whether my information requires a lawyer or if it’s something I can do on my own,” Jamie said. ” When you don’t make outragous amounts of money per year it’s hard to get lawyers to actually work for you. Today’s event will give me the information I’ve been seeking to move forward.”

Lawyer Siobhan Galbraith volunteered her services and says there is free help available all year.

“Reach out. There are services available and just taking the first step, contacting Calgary Legal Guidance or one of the reseources that they have listed, will help steer you in the right direction,” said Galbraith.
