Flames open pre-season versus Oilers

It’s the Battle of Alberta pre-season style, as the Flames and Oilers are squaring off with a pair of games.
Fans will see a more established group in Calgary.
Mike Smith will also see time between the pipes at the Saddledome.
In Edmonton, Sam Bennett will center the top line, with Spencer Foo and Emile Poirier on his wings.
“This pre-season for us is going to be, early on, about giving some quality looks to some rookies that we feel are real close to playing for us,” explained head coach Glen Gulutzan. “Later on, the last few games, it’ll be about getting ready for the season.”
Sophomore forward Matthew Tkachuk will not suit up in either meeting due to a sore hip.
Both split-squad games will be live streamed on calgaryflames.com at 7 p.m.
