Marianne Ryan mingled with Calgarians Wednesday afternoon for her first official public question and answer as the province’s ninth Ombudsman and second Public Interest Commissioner, since being appointed back on July 4th, 2017.
Ryan says, Alberta is a leader when it comes to helping people who have been unfairly treated by the provincial government, and other authorities.
“Our office has been in place for 50 years, we were the first office in North America to have an Ombudsman so Alberta should take a great deal of pride being leaders as we always are, said Ryan.
Ryan adds, it’s so important to have an organization like this put in place for people who need support when they feel like they have been treated unjustly.
Prior to becoming the Ombudsman, Ryan led a successful career that spanned 35 years with The Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
