Calgarians gather for Monday’s solar eclipse

It didn’t last long but Calgarians were still excited to see the partial solar eclipse as the moon passed between the earth and the sun Monday morning.

The eclipse started at 10:20 a.m., peaking at 11:33 a.m., before the moon completed its pass at 12:50 p.m. The sun was about 80 per cent covered in Calgary at the peak.

The University of Calgary brought some equipment from the observatory and had it set up on campus for a viewing party with thousands on hand.

North America won’t see a total solar eclipse again until 2024.
