The United Conservative Party won’t be at Calgary Pride Parade

Members of the United Conservative Party will not be allowed at Calgary Pride, unless they complete a three hour course.

“Calgary Pride looks forward to building a relationship with the newly formed United Conservative Party, and having them demonstrate their commitment to the gender and sexually diverse community through their new platform and policies over the next year and onward,” said President and Executive Producer Jason Kingsley in a statement.

Pride sent a letter to UCP members stating that as a new party that has not expressed a policy in support of the gender and sexually diverse community, it suggests members take a three-hour course offered by the Calgary Sexual Health Centre.

UCP spokesperson Samantha Johnston said the party is working to schedule the workshops, but it won’t be completed in time for this year’s parade.
