Man rushed to hospital after serious crash near Crossfield

A 42-year-old man has been flown to the Foothills Hospital in serious, life-threatening condition after a crash on the QEII.

It happened at the Highway 72 turnoff shortly after 6 p.m., near Crossfield.

First responders found a vehicle rolled over in the west ditch when they arrived and had to work to free him from the wreckage.

STARS Air Ambulance was called in to transport him to Calgary.

“We were landed by Crossfield Fire Department in a field nearby, EMS and RCMP were there as well,” said spokesperson Fatima Khawaja.

There’s still no word yet on what cause the crash and there were reports of several fender benders along the highway as a result of the slow down.

An RCMP collision expert was called in to reconstruct the scene.
