Cochrane RCMP have laid charges against a Calgary cyclist who claimed he was hurt while riding along a trail in Bragg Creek.
Stelianos Psaroudakis said his neck was injured after riding into barbed wire strung between two trees in early July. He claimed he had to leave his bike behind to find medical attention and when he came back, his bike was gone.
He set up a GoFundMe page to raise money to replace his bike and cover medical costs; the campaign was later suspended. He had been asking for $8,000 in donations.
RCMP said their investigation concluded barbed wire incident never happened.
Psaroudakis has been charged with fraud and public mischief.
