Calgarians and international visitors are packing away their cowboy hats and boots with the end of the 2017 Calgary Stampede.
Sunday’s attendance was 117,514 people, about 34,000 less than 2016.
However, overall attendance was up, thanks to the nice weather, at over 1.2 million people.
Calgary police said, for the most part, cowboys and cowgirls were mild-mannered, but Detective Keith Sylvester admitted the final weekend of Stampede was busy.
“Saturday was probably the most busy out of the whole Stampede,” he said.
“Just the high of volume of calls involving a lot of intoxicated people, along those lines.”
However, Sylvester said police did not come across anything really serious.
