People find ways to cool off in Calgary heatwave

Calgary is once again under another heat warning and that means people are finding ways to cool off.

According to Environment Canada, the temperature is expected to reach 32 degrees on Saturday.

Princes Island Park was a popular place where many people went to escape their hot homes on Friday.

Katherine found a nice relaxing spot to sunbathe along the Bow River, and says her room feels like a sauna at night.

“Honestly I’ve been suffering from not being able to sleep very much at night and I just wanted to come out and actually be able to enjoy the sun and sit here in the sun with the breeze right by the river, it’s the perfect way to enjoy it.”

Trevor, who is originally from Calgary but now lives in California, decided to wake up by taking a dip in the river.

“It felt amazing, it’s not as cold as I thought it was going to be and it was very refreshing, I don’t know it’s just the most clean water in Canada, it feels amazing so why not.”

Another popular spot where people like to beat the heat is the Eau Claire Spray Park which is open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

With the heat warning in place, Environment Canada is reminding people to drink plenty of water, try and put off any outdoor activities until the cooler parts of the day and take frequent breaks from the sun.
