Body recovered from Fort Chip, believed to be remains of missing hunter

Months after four hunters went missing in Northern Alberta, a fourth body has been found in the community of Fort Chipewyan.

On Saturday, RCMP was called about a discovery on the banks of the Rocher River, in an area about eight kilometres from where the hunters’ boat was found in April.

“A member of the community had located the body last night. I’m unsure if it was part of a specific community driven search or [they] just so happened to notice the body,” said Cpl. Chris Warren.

In April, four men set off on a boat but didn’t return from their trip. Their boat was discovered on April 25. Since then, bodies of Walter Ladouceur, Keanan Cardinal and Keith Marten were recovered. It’s believe the body found Saturday belongs to Andrew Ladouceur.

“The body has just been tentatively [identified] at this time, so we’ll have a positive identification tomorrow. The RCMP continue to have our thoughts with the family and the community of Fort Chip at this time,” said Warren.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday in Edmonton.
