People of all faiths gathered to promote peace, love and friendship at Municipal Plaza

There was a small but mighty crowd on Municipal Plaza Saturday night as people came together in a bid to combat Islamophobia and terrorism.

Organized by the Calgary Interfaith Council, speakers and musicians preached their respective gospels and told the crowd, love is what’s needed in this world, not hate.

Asfa was not part of any group, she came down because she felt it was important to have that conversation .

“This rally is against hate and Islamophobia and against racism and as a human being that is something we should all value and we should all stand against oppression and that’s why I’m here.”

Police were on hand in case protesters tried to crash the event but it turned out to be largely uneventful.
