Sled Island set to entertain downtown

Calgary’s Sled Island Festival features more than 250 bands, comedians, films, and art exhibits for 2017. It begins Wednesday and runs until Sunday at various locations in the downtown core.

Sled Island Music & Arts Festival Executive director Maud Salvi said, “We are a multi-venue, so we use about over 30 different venues, throughout mostly Calgary’s downtown core.”

The festival has been happening for about 10 years, and attracts well known bands and artists from across the world. “This year one of our main headliners is Flying Lotus who is a producer and rapper from L.A. We also have five acts from Japan,” Salvi added.

You can also see and listen to dozens of local artists, comedians and filmmakers.

Tickets and passes are still available and a free outdoor block party takes place in Inglewood on Saturday.
