ALERT seizes drugs, cash, weapons in Calgary

ALERT Calgary’s organized crime and gang team has recovered more than $100,000 in cash, a large amount of drugs and a semi-automatic rifle following the search of three homes.

Homes in the northern Calgary communities of Sherwood and Rocky Ridge, along with an apartment off of 17 Avenue were searched on May 25, 2017 with help from the Calgary Police Service and RCMP investigators.

Among the items seized by officers: an estimated $224,000 in street drugs (including 560 grams of cocaine; 704 grams of methamphetamine; 227 grams of heroin, 23 grams of unknown pills and $110,830 cash proceeds of crime.)

An SKS semi-automatic rifle, ammunition, body armour, and a conductive energy weapon were also recovered. The firearm will be submitted for ballistics testing to determine if it was used in any other crimes.

Three suspected drug dealers were arrested in connection to the seizure on June 7, 2017.

Sinbad Rekic, 24, is facing seven charges including possession for the purpose of trafficking, unsafe storage of a firearm, and possession of a firearm with the serial number removed.

Billy Koroluk, 23, faces five charges including possession for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of body armour.

Dalton Vanderpost, 21, is facing five charges including possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of proceeds of crime.
