Pedestrian struck by vehicle at Sunridge Mall

A woman was rushed to hospital in critical, life-threatening condition Tuesday night after being hit by a vehicle.

She was struck at 26 Ave. at 36 St. at the north entrance of Sunridge Mall, shortly before 7 p.m.

EMS spokesperson Adam Loria says it started with a crash between two vehicles.

“Shortly after that collision occurred one of the vehicles struck a pedestrian, that being an adult female. I’m not too sure of her age, or where exactly she was located when she was struck,” said Loria.

The truck slammed into a building after it hit the pedestrian.

Given her condition, paramedics opted to take the woman to the Peter Lougheed Centre, just down the street.

In most instances with such critical injuries, the patient would be taken to Foothills Hospital because it has a trauma centre.

Both drivers involved in the collision suffered minor injuries.
