Dozens forced out by fire at Calgary apartment complex

More than 100 people were evacuated from the London Towers condo complex in Southeast Calgary when a balcony fire broke out Saturday night.

The Calgary Fire Department got the call at around 930 p.m. to the 8000 block of Horton Road.

Battalion Chief Alistair Robin tells 660 NEWS, “luckily the blaze was able to be contained to one unit. The fire calmed down after the sprinkler system in the apartment turned on.”

Transit buses were brought in for residents and roads into the complex were closed off.

Investigators are looking into the cause of the blaze.
