Dignitaries turn out to dedicate new Catholic school

A celebration was held in Cranston Wednesday, for one of Calgary’s newest schools.

Even though students have been attending Our Lady of the Rosary since January, the official dedication drew dignitaries.

Among those dignitaries, Calgary’s new bishop William McGrattan, who blessed the still-new K-6 building.

“That is a very special opportunity, isn’t it. And I know Bishop McGrattan very much wants to be a part of our school communities, as was Bishop Henry, (who was) a great supporter for Catholic education and Calgary Catholics,” says Catholic Board Chair Cheryl Low. “And Bishop McGrattan has indicated he wants to spend time in our schools and with our students, so what a treat for the kids for him to be here.”

The new school will serve the needs of Cranston and surrounding southeast Calgary communities for years to come. Right now, 180 kids attend the school, and more than 300 are enrolled for September.
