A case of déjà vu for the Calgary Fire Department.
A garbage truck became stuck under the Centre Street Bridge Thursday morning, a frequent occurrence according to officials.
“At least weekly,” CFD spokesperson Carol Henke said. “I don’t have the exact stats, but it is a common problem that the crews downtown respond to on a fairly regular basis.”
Henke added this is a good reminder to know the height restrictions of your vehicle and to look for warning signs, like the one posted on the lower deck of this bridge.
“Some drivers forget how large their vehicle really is,” she said.
A structural engineer had to be called in to deal with Thursday’s incident to ensure there was no damage to the bridge. The truck’s tires were deflated and the vehicle was then towed away.
