Skate to Great collects gear for youth programs

If your hockey or figure skating season is over, there’s a great place to send last year’s gear.

A youth program is collecting sticks, blades and helmets starting Wednesday in Calgary.

Skate to Great is a Canadian Charity co-founded by Evan Kosiner.

“It was created four years ago out of an idea that every kid in Canada should have the opportunity to go skating, regardless of their circumstances,” Kosiner said.

So, the national program strives to make that happen.

“Collect skates, helmets and sticks for different community programs, charities, schools and First Nations reserves across Canada,” he said.

The Calgary campaign is launching at the Federal Express on Aero Drive in the northeast.

Collection runs through May 31.
