Grizzly bear activity forces an early closure of a popular backcountry campground in Kananaskis

Grizzly bear sightings mean an early season closure for the Rummel Lake Winter Backcountry campground.

The closure was posted on Saturday, April 15th on the Alberta Parks website.

The campground located in the Spray Valley Provincial Park, is approximately 40 kilometres south of Canmore, Alberta.

In the news release Alberta Parks officials state, “Entering into bear season, caution is advised. Carrying bear spray is highly recommended.”
