For the second time in two nights, the Calgary Fire Department battled a 2-alarm house fire.
A bungalow-style house in the 500 block of 10-A Street N.W. in the Kensington area went up in flames just after 9 o’clock Friday evening.
Crews quickly brought it under control, and firefighters say nobody was injured.
Four people in the home managed to escape the blaze despite the fact early indications show there may not have been a working smoke detector.
Four other people in two neighbouring homes were also forced to leave due to the proximity of the fire. According to the Calgary Fire Department, those neighbours have still not been able to return home due to the power lines affected by the fire.
On Thursday, a duplex was destroyed and two neighbouring homes were damaged in the southeast community of Cranston, leaving six people without a place to live. A cat was killed in the fire and another is still missing.
