Payment system issues plague Shoppers Drug Marts across country

Payment system issues continue to plague Shoppers Drug Mart locations across the country.

According to the company, they’re dealing with intermittent outages affecting its debit and Optimum point transactions.

Vice President Communications Tammy Smitham tells 660 NEWS their I.T. team is working overtime to fix the issue.

“We apologize for any convenience this may cause our customers, essentially at this point we can accept cash payment and credit cards for payments up to $300 but we cannot accept debit transactions at this time,” said Smitham.

She says Optimum points will be added to customer cards later, if you don’t see it within a week, she suggests calling their customer service line with your receipt.

The pharmacy giant has also issued a release:

“The health of our customers remains our top priority. Shoppers Drug Mart stores are open for normal operating hours and customers can continue to have their prescriptions filled at Shoppers Drug Mart pharmacies. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause our customers and we hope to have the situation resolved shortly. “
