Hitmen close out season with a win over the ICE

The Calgary Hitmen closed out their 2016-17 Western Hockey League regular season schedule with a 4-1 victory over the Kootenay ICE on Saturday night at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

The game was played in front of 11,410 spectators on Fan Appreciation Night presented by Vision Travel.

Andrei Grishakov scored the game winner for Calgary, snapping a 1-1 third period with 8:15 remaining. Jake Bean, Matt Dorsey and Brady Reagan, into an empty net, rounded out the scoring. Kyle Dumba was terrific in goal, making several spectacular saves, backstopping the Hitmen to their fifth win in the last six games. Mark Kastelic and Matteo Gennaro both chipped in a pair of assists helping Gennaro finish the season with a team-leading 80 points.

Vince Loschiavo tallied the lone goal for the ICE who were outshot 34-17.

Calgary finishes regular season fourth in the Central Division with a record of 30-32-8-2.

The Hitmen now open the 2017 post-season on the road, with Games 1 and 2 beginning Friday, March 24, against the Regina Pats

The best-of-seven series then shifts to the Scotiabank Saddledome for Game 3 on Tuesday, March 28, and Game 4 on Thursday, March 30. Puck drop is 7:00 p.m. for both contests.
