Residents free to leave homes after Pincher Creek incident

A situation in Pincher Creek that forced residents to stay inside their homes overnight has been resolved.

RCMP and multiple emergency response teams were called to the area near McLeod Street just after 7:30 p.m. Friday and had it shut down until around 9 a.m. Sunday morning.

There are very little details about what transpired but authorities say it seems a man barricaded himself inside a home, but that has not been confirmed.

During the ordeal, Police told people not to post photos or any information on social media.

Officials say there is no longer any danger to the public.

This comes after a similar incident earlier this month in the southern Alberta town.

On February 8th, RCMP were locked down multiple schools, and warned people to stay away from the community, during a standoff.

Dewey “Todd” Starzyk, 53, was charged with careless use of a firearm and failing to comply with conditions of a recognizance in that incident.
